ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
HOW WE TEACH
Some LOUP members offer Climate Positve education; offering a variety of methods to instill in students a love for the environment and an awareness of how they can protect it.
The purpose of our school based education is to empower students to be actively involved in developing a sustainable future for New Zealand.
We create learning situations selecting from the teaching strategies of:
· Investigation: e.g. around school waste issues, packaging in lunchboxes
· Inquiry: e.g. data collection of compostable resources on or near school grounds
· Knowledge building: e.g. demonstrations, visits to resource recovery centres.
· Interactive learning: e.g. school garden, compost building, worm farms following inquiry and investigative work.
